Hong Kong actress Carman Lee, who has recently ventured into e-commerce livestreaming, is facing significant backlash after it was revealed that the products she promoted on her platform were fraudulent.

The 59-year-old actress sold supplements from the healthcare brand YouthIt, which was initially claimed to originate from Australia. However, on April 1, a report by CCTV disclosed that several YouthIt products were actually manufactured in China, contradicting the sellers' claims of Australian imports.

Media sources also reported that the brand's narrative and its purported international awards were fabricated.

In response to the scandal, Carman issued a letter of apology on the same day, expressing her shock, anger, and regret. She stated, "Upon seeing today's reports regarding the issues with YouthIt, as a seller who once recommended their product, I feel deeply shocked, angry, and filled with remorse."

She extended her sincere apologies to fans who trusted her and purchased YouthIt products, saying, "I'm so sorry!"

Carman explained that she had not conducted a thorough background check on the brand's origins during the selection and testing phase of the products, which she acknowledged as a "serious dereliction of duty" that let down her fans and viewers.

The actress announced that she and her team are taking measures while YouthIt is under investigation by authorities. She stated, "For any YouthIt products purchased during my livestreams or through my store, regardless of purchase date or whether you've opened them, please contact us. We will issue a full refund on the same day."

Additionally, she mentioned that a dedicated after-sales team has been set up to address these issues and urged customers to reach out to her assistant for assistance.

Carman's team committed to taking full responsibility for the situation and ensuring that customers do not face uncertainty alone. "I know that a simple apology cannot erase the impact this incident has had on everyone. I hope my followers will allow me to prove my sincerity and commitment to change through concrete actions," she added.

Alongside Carman, other sellers, including actress Teresa Cheung, have also publicly apologized for promoting YouthIt's products. The products have since been removed from major e-commerce platforms.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco taking wedding planning 'one day at a time'
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are taking "one day at a time" with their wedding planning. The newly-engaged lovebirds aren't rushing into their big day, and 37-year-old musician joked his bride-to-be, 32, is constantly coming up with a whole new idea. He told Rolling Stone magazine in a joint interview: “I think every day she’s planned a new wedding in her head. “We’re very much ‘take it one day at a time’ type of people. We’re still not over this moment. "Literally, while you were talking, she was sitting there staring at her ring.” The 'Only Murders In The Building' actress pointed out that for now, they're focused on the upcoming release of their collaborative album 'I Said I Love You First'. She added: “Also, I genuinely feel like this is such a special time that we get to apply it to this album and really just pour our heart into it, and completely translate what we feel and bring it to the world. "That’s my main focus right now, at least.” In December last year, Selena revealed Benny had proposed using an oval-shaped ring with a large diamond. He popped the question during a picnic which featured Taco Bell, but he insisted there wasn't an "elaborate" meaning behind the fast food involvement, He explained: “There’s not this whole elaborate thing. I think we’re very lucky to be surrounded by such great people, and we’ve still just been enjoying so much. “It feels like we got engaged yesterday, but also feels like we got engaged 20 years ago. I’ve known her since she was 18, and so it’s like we got all that stuff out of the way. "By the time we’re dating, it’s like, whoa. My biggest regret is that we didn’t get to do this earlier, like we waited this long to be together. But I know it was perfect and it was right.”
