Volkswagen is recalling close to 100,000 electric vehicles, with approximately 28,000 of them located in Germany, due to concerns related to battery modules, as reported by the German motor vehicle authority KBA.
The recall affects nearly 75,000 vehicles from Volkswagen's ID. series and about 20,000 Cupra Borns manufactured between February 2022 and August 2024.
According to the notices released earlier this month, certain modules in the high-voltage battery may not meet specifications, potentially leading to reduced driving range and an increased risk of fire.
A software update will be implemented on the recalled vehicles, and the high-voltage battery will be inspected. If necessary, specific battery modules will be replaced, as stated in the notices.
Germany's Focus news outlet was the first to report on these recalls.
